Each day, caring friends like you help change the lives of the hungry, homeless and addicted in Fairfield County from the inside out. Every time you pray for, volunteer at or donate to Bridgeport Rescue Mission, you give the hungry food and the homeless shelter. You bless the mentally and physically ill with compassionate care. You help those who are addicted, abused and abandoned find hope and healing.
Since 1993, the Mission has reached out with love to those on the fringes of society, those who have nowhere else to turn, those who others have forgotten. We not only care for the immediate physical needs of the homeless, we help them overcome the challenges that led to their plight so they can learn to stand on their own again, as productive and contributing members of our community.
We couldn't do any of this without the help of people like you. Your support allows us to stretch our arms around the homeless and poor men, women and children of Fairfield County, offering free meals, safe shelter and long-term recovery programs, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year...
As you explore our Web site, you will learn much more about Bridgeport Rescue Mission and discover how you can be a part of our front-line ministry, impacting lives for eternity. Thanks again for your interest in our outreach and for working alongside us to care for homeless and hurting men, women and children. Our History
The seeds of our life-changing ministry to the poor and addicted in Fairfield County were sewn in 1991, when a West Virginia pastor, Rev. Jim Watson, saw a broadcast about the plight of Bridgeport—a city teetering on the edge of bankruptcy—and its citizens on the edge of despair. Concerned Christians and rescue mission executives from neighboring states wanted to help the city's poor and dispirited, so they began to pray about starting a mission in Bridgeport. As Rev. Watson watched that broadcast, he heard God's call.
