The Bridgeport Rescue Mission provides assistance to anyone in need without requiring referral or payment. We do this to the honor and glory of our Lord, Jesus Christ. The Mission has five programs which provide vital support to the community:

The Mission Kitchen
The Mission kitchen is open 365 days a year, and regularly serves 3 meals a day to the homeless and hungry of the Greater Bridgeport Area. Those who come to the Mission Kitchen enjoy a nutritious meal in a safe environment. For many people, it is the first time in a long time they have had the comfort of friendly, caring surroundings. The meals we serve at the Mission are vital contribution to many people’s survival. The Mission kitchen is a reliable source of hot nutritious food for men, women and children when other food assistance runs out. There is no limit to the number of times an individual or family can come to the kitchen.

Pantry Box Program
We serve many families through our Pantry Box Program. Families apply to receive a box of food designed to feed a family of four for one week. This gift of food is often the key to providing nutritious meals for families. Pantry Boxes are either picked up by the family or delivered via the Mobile Kitchen.

The Mobile Kitchen
The Mobile Kitchen visits a different neighborhood in Bridgeport six nights a week. It is often staffed by volunteers who bring a hot, nutritious meal to people who do not have the adequate resources to provide meals to their families. The volunteers also share the Good News of God’s love and salvation through his son, Jesus by giving of themselves through their time and dedication. For some of those served by the Mobile Kitchen, the meal we bring to them may be the only food they have that day.

Overnight Emergency Shelter For Men
The Bridgeport Mission opens its doors every night to homeless men in the Greater Bridgeport Area. A guest with the Mission is welcome to stay up to five consecutive nights a month, and is provided with nutritious meals, the opportunity to shower as well as clean clothing. A chapel service; held every evening, is organized by volunteers from local churches. An overnight stay at the Mission is often the first step in entering the New Life Discipleship Program. When the overnight shelter is full, the Mission serves 60 men

New Life Discipleship Program For Men
A one-year residential life discipleship program. Our program seeks to help our residents recognize, acknowledge and overcome their addictions and compulsive behaviors. Through daily Bible study they learn to depend on God for resolution of those behaviors, and develop within themselves the spiritual and emotional growth promised us by Jesus Christ. There are also classes in anger management, and computer literacy provided.

New Life Discipleship Program For Women
A one-year residential life discipleship program, designed to address the specific problems faced by women who have lost their lives to addictions. For women, addiction is often used to alleviate the pain of other issues, such as childhood abuse, and domestic violence. Our Bible based program helps women regain their self-respect, eliminate drug and alcohol dependency, and begin anew in a life free of the bonds that held them previously. There are also classes about codependency and computer literacy.
