Every person who comes to Bridgeport Rescue Mission is experiencing death in one form or another—guilt, loneliness, self-loathing, despair. And they long for a new beginning. But many are unaware it’s even possible. You see, they don’t know Jesus Christ . . . or they shut Him out of their hearts a long time ago.
That’s why there isn’t a more meaningful message for our residents and homeless guests than the one we share at Easter—and do our best to demonstrate all year long:
Through Christ’s death and resurrection, they are forgiven . . . they will never be alone
. . . and with His power, their lives can be victorious.
If you asked our residents to choose one word that sums up everything we do here at Bridgeport Rescue Mission, they might, in fact, say "resurrection." Because the purpose of all of our programs and services is to restore lives to their full potential.
For people like Raymond, that means overcoming addiction and destructive behaviors and becoming a productive member of society. Through our New Life Discipleship Program, we provide direction in goal setting, anger management and decision-making. We encourage students to face their challenges head-on and give them the tools to do so. For others, resurrection may be found through assistance with the daily necessities of life. Hundreds of hungry people in eight low-income areas and housing projects throughout Fairfield County receive hot meals from our Mobile Kitchen. The compassionate volunteers on the truck also pass out much-needed coats, shoes and other items to homeless and near-homeless men, women and children. Once they’re no longer hungry or cold, they’re hearts are open to the message of God’s love and His promise of hope for a better tomorrow. While Christ’s grace is the source of each life transformation here at Bridgeport Rescue Mission, financial support from our community provides the tools for permanent change:
Nutritious food, safe shelter and clean clothing . . . biblical education, counseling and fellowship . . . practical training in marketable job skills and more—all creating opportunities for our guests and residents to rebuild stable, independent and purpose-driven lives.
Your gift today—of whatever amount you feel called to share—will help others who desperately need life’s basic necessities, long-term life recovery programs and the opportunity and to experience the power of His love and forgiveness. Thank you for helping Bridgeport Rescue Mission fight poverty from the inside out . . . here in Fairfield County. |
